Development Coaching
Do developers really use processes?
Whether they are deemed “Agile”, “Unified” or are custom built, in reality many documented processes are simply ignored by many people. Realistic process improvements require an approach that values people.
The longer I work in the industry the more strongly I believe that working relationships are more important than technology to the success of software projects. Processes are important too, because they can transform chaos into order. Good software relies on people and processes. The key is to get the balance right.
What do I offer?
The emphasis of my service will depend on the problems that your development team is experiencing. My process will start with an interview with the client’s software development manager. Having elicited the major problems from a management perspective I will follow up with a process-improvement programme tailored to the client’s developers. Early in the process I will seek involvement and commitment from all developers. My aim will be to facilitate the improvements that developers will jointly make.
My Experience
In addition to contributing to the improvement of development practices over many years, I have experience in facilitating the improvement of business procedures as part of implementing a Quality Management System at Advanced Software Engineering Pty Ltd.
